SUMMARY - The Cabin Mechanic is responsible for all duties and functions assigned normally within the airframe and provide airworthiness of the aircraft upon completion of maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Proficient in removal and installation of aircraft galleys, lavatories, seats, and other equipment located within aircraft. - Highly proficient in using technical data and drawings to locate part numbers and accomplish repairs. - Insure work performed adheres to high quality standards. -- Effectively direct the work of less experienced mechanics.
- All other duties as assigned.
Able to communicate effectively verbally in writing in standard English. Able to interface in a professional manner with other AAR Aircraft Services employees at all levels and with customers if required. General mechanical aptitude. Able to comprehend and follow instructions.
QUALIFICATIONS - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Prefer a FAA "A" or A&P License. - Computer keypunch experience. - Previous experience in warehousing, handling inventory, and bar code equipment. Has thorough general knowledge of tools. Able to read and understand blueprints, engineering documents, service bulletins, aircraft manuals and catalogs and be able to perform complex cabin reconfigurations. Understands how to read a micrometer, depth gauge or dial calipers. Cleans various materials and treats surfaces per the manufacturer’s instructions and specifications.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION - High school education or G.E.D. preferred. 3-5 years of aircraft interior metal experience required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT -Exposed to high levels of noise, dust, vibration and chemical fumes. Able to lift fifty (50) pounds without mechanical assistance. Able to bend, twist, squat and lift. Able to access and work in all areas of the aircraft to be worked on, including confined areas. Able to climb on ladders and platforms and work at heights up to fifty feet from the ground. Able to work in extreme climatic conditions.
