The Interior / Cabin Technician I is responsible for all duties and functions assigned normally within the airframe and provide airworthiness of the aircraft upon completion of maintenance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proficient in removal and installation of aircraft galleys, lavatories, seats, and other equipment located within aircraft.

  • Highly proficient in using technical data and drawings to locate part numbers and accomplish repairs.

  • Ensure work performed adheres to high quality standards.

  • Effectively direct the work of less experienced mechanics.

  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Able to communicate effectively verbally in writing in standard English.

  • Able to interface in a professional manner with other AAR Aircraft Services employees at all levels and with customers if required.

  • General mechanical aptitude.

  • Able to comprehend and follow instructions.

  • Has thorough general knowledge of tools.

  • Able to read and understand blueprints, engineering documents, service bulletins, aircraft manuals and catalogs and be able to perform complex cabin reconfigurations.

  • Understands how to read a micrometer, depth gauge or dial calipers.

  • Cleans various materials and treats surfaces per the manufacturer’s instructions and specifications.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • 5 years of aircraft interior/cabin experience required.

  • Current FAA airframe certificate is preferred, with powerplant certificate not required.

  • Able to read and understand blueprints, engineering documents, service bulletins, aircraft manuals and catalogs and be able to perform complex cabin reconfigurations.

  • Understands how to read a micrometer, depth gauge or dial calipers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Constantly: Lifting 10 lbs., standing, walking, wrist flexion and extension, environmental weather conditions.

  • Frequently: Lifting ≤40 lbs., push/pull <20 lbs., climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, squatting, crawling, kneeling for extended periods, working in confined spaces. Working above chest-level, overhead, and away from body for extended periods. Bending, twisting of torso, twisting and/or pressure with wrist/hands, fine finger usage, moderate vibrations up to 2 hrs. to high vibrations up to 30 mins. Vision with/without correction; near <20”, far >20’, and basic depth perception (shapes). Working at elevated heights ≥4’, working on ladders, scaffolding, uneven surfaces, and energized parts.

  • Occasionally: Lifting and/or carry ≤50 lbs., sitting, basic color vision, operation of motorized or electrical equipment, push/pull <50 lbs., work in wet conditions.
