SUMMARY: Leads an electrical engineering team supporting design, analysis, certification and project management as related to transport category aircraft.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and analyze electrical systems and components in support of aircraft interior modifications and avionics upgrades (FAA STC projects).

• Prepare electrical engineering drawings and reports including electrical wire installation, harness fabrication and wire routing.

• Develop cabin electrical modification/installation work instructions and continued airworthiness procedures.

• Participate in customer design reviews.

• Coordinate and monitor electrical aspects of project schedule with project managers.

• Troubleshoot aircraft electrical issues during STC prototype and post STC.

• Travel both nationally and internationally required (5-10% approx.)

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • BS Degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Electrical or Mechanical preferred) or extensive experience and training in their respective area of expertise to be determined equivalent.•Typically, has completed ten or more years of engineering experience, may have a Master’s degree and may be a registered Engineer•Must have previous experience with Airbus or Boeing aircraft fleets•Working knowledge of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs - from Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations) as they apply to transport category aircraft.•Knowledge of aircraft electrical systems and wiring diagrams. •Knowledge of maintenance practices and development including:oMPD (maintenance planning document), oMRB (material review board), oEWIS (electrical wiring interconnect system), oEZAP (enhanced zonal analysis procedure), oMEL (minimum equipment list).oCMM (component maintenance manual),oWDM (wire diagram manual),oSSM (system schematic manual)•Knowledge ofreport development including:oWRA (wire routing assessment), oELA (electrical load analysis),oEWIS Evaluation and Source,oAFMS (Airplane Flight Manual Supplement),oTVSA (transverse vertical separation analysis)oFTP (functional test plans, i.e.: EMI, ground, flight)•Familiarity with the FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) process•Familiarity with RTCA and ARINC Standards associated with equipment certification on transport category aircraft.•Familiarity with the FAA Airworthiness Directive (AD) process and rules governing disposition.•Ability and experience to create engineering details, assemblies, and installation drawings using AutoCAD or similar software programs.
