The Contract Manager is responsible for all aspects of the contracting process including proposal preparation, fact finding, negotiation, contract administration, and contract closure. Responsible for the administration, and proper coordination of various types of contracts, agreements and other legal documents with program management, finance/accounting, legal, and other functional areas as necessary. Participate in the identification, development, and defining of proposals. Participate within the contracts department in the development of best practice processes and procedures in Government contracts and change management. Performs contract administration functions on new and existing contracts as assigned.


  • Responsiblefor entire contractual life-cycle administration of contracts and otheractivity as assigned by the Contracts Director.

  • Preparesand administers routine correspondence, negotiation memoranda, and contractdocumentation to ensure timely and coordinated submittal.

  • Prepares,organizes and maintains contract records and files documenting contractperformance and compliance.

  • Assistsmid- to high-level business development, contracts, and project managementprofessionals in working with internal or external business teams on issues anddevelopments relative to assigned contracts.

  • Reviewand analyze contract actions for identification of discrepancies, risks, andconcerns; specific focus will be on initiation, administration, and changemanagement.

  • Examineand compare contract documents against proposals and negotiation records foraccuracy

  • Initiatesinternal documentation to authorize and direct work in accordance with standardoperating procedures and contractual specifications

  • Reviewscomplex solicitations and prepares specialized and/or non-routine response forproposals, bids, and contract modifications.

  • Analyzessignificant, and/or unique contract requirements, special provisions, terms andconditions to ensure compliance with appropriate laws, regulations, andcorporate policies and business unit procedure.

  • Analyzesnew law, regulation and contract trends for potential impact on business unitgoals and objectives.

  • Focalpoint for communication with legal, finance, and business team disciplines forresolution of contract issues and disputes.

  • Assistsin identification, development and implementation of new contract policy andprocesses.

  • Havea general understanding of the business case and an appreciation offinancial/analytical issues and profit and loss implications.

  • Assistswith contract negotiations

  • Monitorscurrent status of assigned contracts

  • Performscontract closeout activities.

  • Disseminatesinformation throughout the company regarding status, compliance, modification,deviation, negotiation and termination.

  • Reviewsnew solicitations for unique/unusual requirements.

  • Initiatesdocumentation to authorize and direct work in accordance with contractualspecification.

  • Developsor assists in developing cost/price proposals in response to customerrequirements.

  • Allother duties as assigned.

  • Working knowledgeof contracting concepts, Uniform Commercial Code, applicable public contractacquisition law and regulations, and applicable international contract law.

  • Strong analyticalskills.

  • Use of independentjudgment and creativity applied to resolution of contract issues.

  • Ability toconceptualize and write and/or edit compelling proposal narrative and oralpresentation slides.

  • Ability tofunction effectively in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.

  • Must be able to work with littledirection and handle multiple tasks.

  • Ability to understand and applytechnical concepts related to aviation and apply technical and pricing conceptsof our capabilities and related turnkey services.

  • Prior military experience a plus.


  • Bachelor degree (B.A.) or equivalent from four-year college or technical school;

  • 5-7 yrs relevant experience in Contract Administration or 8-10 yrs of combined relevant experience in contracts, aviation, defense or aerospace.
