Has overall responsibility for the daily operation of program management for major commercial and/or military contracts. Works with business development and contract compliance personnel as appropriate, to identify program opportunities and to develop program proposals, including implementation and staffing plans for new programs.

  • Ensures that new programs are timely and effectively implemented in accordance with budgetary objectives and all contractual requirements.

  • Conducts meetings with management teams regarding program status. Assures early problem identification and the implementation of corrective action. Creates an atmosphere of teamwork within the program team and the support organizations.

  • Provides timely reports to upper management to ensure an understanding of status and program performance.

  • Takes a proactive stance by developing contingency plans in potential risk areas and identifying contingency plan deployment criteria to resolve potential problems. Reports potential problems to Value Stream Manager.

  • Coordinates program activity with the Value Stream Managers to ensure that common resources and skills are leveraged across all programs whenever feasible.

  • Maintains and fosters highly responsive coordination and communication activities and initiatives among top management staff of major commercial and/or military customer organization.

  • Provides direct leadership, including engineering, operations, quality and purchasing staffs to carrying out on-site tasks required to satisfy contractual requirements and cost targets to support programs.

  • Manages resources of all assigned programs effectively and efficiently so as to ensure business unit profit goals are achieved.

  • Assists with development and presentation of corporate proposals for new program business.

  • Provides inventory acquisition, forecasting, and disbursement advice to top management.

  • Provides specific inputs for the development, implementation and execution of the overall business plan.

  • Works with the leadership of other AAR business units to support customers and programs whenever and wherever needed.

  • Ensure that all objectives meet or exceed contractual obligations.

  • Communicate to Senior Management any problems and suggested solutions.

  • Ensure that Defense Systems are developing adequate sales strategies and are identifying new sales targets.

  • Coordinate and communicate with the sales force to secure sales.

  • Prepare reports for Management and Senior Management on sales, performance, and savings.

  • Liaise with the appropriate personnel within the logistics chain to organize and expedite inventory shipments, purchase orders and repair orders.

  • Ensure overall customer satisfaction.

  • Identify new opportunities.

  • Travel is required.

  • All other duties as assigned.



Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with AAR's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or a minimum of eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced degree such as MBA, preferred. Minimum of 7 years experience demonstrating success in either a military service and/or commercial business supporting, operations, maintenance, contracting or program management. Experience with SIKORSKY Program Management is a plus. Must be PC Literate (Excel, Word, Access, Project and MRP Systems). Experience with MRB, ECO, Purchasing Process, and Production MRP functions.
